SPRINGTIME >> Campaign in Józsefváros #video

This is the image film Piko, I did the animated parts in it, and I assisted Gergó (Gergő Pápai) with the filming and editing. Fun fact: He included us with Luckó in the film, even though I didn’t insist on us.

In 2019, I helped András Pikó’s campaign team from the outside, then I worked a lot with the campaign magazine. This year – as a local government employee – as time went by, I got more and more involved in the matter. At first I only produced the visual materials of one of my friends (disclaimer: currently elected representative), then I also got involved in the production of the main campaign film for Piko (disclaimer: re-elected, left-wing, socially sensitive mayor). It is probably mandatory to say: I prepared all materials strictly after working hours.

Tózsa Mikolt’s performance at Artus. I initially took over the projection,

but slowly started shaping it to my own taste. It was a two-location,

fast-paced projection in Artus’ large factory building, with a lot of nudity and shouting.

03.13 >> Sebi and Manti #video

Another Siketfajd miracle! We wanted to give the promotion for the March concert a little spin, so we did a short piece about Sebi going down to play football with his locust friend in the housing estate, but it all goes wrong in the end.
Actually, the video itself is a wrap up for me, I’ve condensed the most important elements of the 2023 visuals into it <3

2024.02.16 >> SKF: Introducing this year’s live visuals. #visual+print

The truth is that this year turned out a bit differently for the Siketfajd project than I expected, but more on that later. The big plan for this year was to max out the analog-digital-analog-digital transformation or journey. So, I had planned to make a booklet for every concert out of the videos I wanted to play, and during the concert, by applying all kinds of effects and cameras, I would have turned the once-digital, then analog materials back into digital ones (and this would have been a cycle: for the next concert, I would have re-digitalized the analogized digital recordings, and then analogized the digitalized recordings, HÖHÖ MINDFUCK 🙂 ). Returning to the original thought, this year turned out that several times the timing wasn’t right, we couldn’t do projections, Szabi decided he wanted fewer concerts, and now, on top of that, Czitrom has quit. (Actually I’m writing this post in October.)

11.08 >> Közveszélyes munkakerülők #visual

Nowadays, I tend to return to Trafó every year or so. This year, I was asked to do the visual for the Thury siblings’ play „Public Dangerous Workers”. A resounding success at the end of a long rehearsal process 🙂 So for the time being, we’ll keep on playing.

For almost a year, the creators and participants of the performance have been reflecting together on the relationship between work and leisure, the burdens and beauties of leisure, vulnerability, constraints, self-exploitation and burnout.
Drawing on the experiences of the research process and on archival material from the 1920s and ’20s, this presentation explores life situations in which the boundaries between leisure and work, work and private life are increasingly blurred, and which are so similarly different as to be worth addressing in community.

We have been working for a month on Közveszélyes munkakerülők and today we finally moved to Trafó. It’s a bit of a brain teaser at first with all the cable converters and cameras, but pretty much everything works for the first time, I still need to get a decent stop motion stative.

10.15 >> Park into the Palotanegyed! #animation

The Fidesz, together with Pázmány Péter University, wants to demolish half of the palace district in order to replace it with university buildings. Meanwhile, the legendary Studio 6 of the radio station would be demolished. This animation was part of the counter-campaign we did together with CAPE.

07.13 >> Bánkitó Fesztivál day 2. #visual

I was most looking forward to the first night of the Bánkito festival (actually the second night including day zero). I hadn’t had the chance to try out the motion sensor projection I had put together at the Isadora on a large scale before, and here was my chance. I really liked the way it looked, and after a few hours of setting it up, it even gave me the freedom to watch Analogue Balaton and Platon Karataev in concert.

07.12 >> Bánkitó Fesztivál day 1. #visual

I have not been to the Bánkito Festival for years. Instead, a friend and I held a so-called Bánkhorány festival with some random people in Horány. But this year everything was different. Zsuzzi (Auróra) asked me if I would like to do a visual at the Auróra venue. She even showed me what she would like to get, something interactive and responsive to moving. So from that I developed two completely different directions. One came in through an iPad app and I varied it with that. That was day one and day three. And on the second day, I fulfilled an old wish of mine, I made a visual using an old love, a software called Isadora!
